You lose buildpower when canceling so that's already a pretty major disadvantage, regardless I think it would be fair to only give back the same % as a wreck would.

I don't really see any disadvantages to this, it's mostly a quality of life improvement. The cancel all but current order was a very nice feature, but there's a few cases where you'd want to cancel immediately like indeed if there's a bomber threat and you want AA asap. Or sometimes when you have won control over an island and don't need any more land units, so you want to ctrlk that factory but dont want to do it before finishing production so you dont waste mass.

Getting the wreck of an unfinished unit just makes perfect sense.

I'd wager 95% of the time this happens it's because people built the wrong thing by accident so yeah, definitely a quality of life first and foremost.

Though I do see how you could have a Strategic bomber/Battlecruiser/Destroyer whatever in production and then when your scout reaches enemy you can make a last second decision if you're going to use it or just cancel it for mass and build that T3 mex instead if it's 100% return.

What about if your enemy is building a summit at 95% and you successfully snipe his factory but he cancels the construction order in the last second. Will he get his resources back fast enough for your attack not to be so harmful to him? Because there is kinda a huge gameplay change in that scenario.

I wanna see you snipe a UEF T3 Naval factory, those damn things survive a naval nuke xD

Point is good though, being able to cancel, to get some mass back is a thing that happens in other games with the mechanic. Some of them actually auto-cancel in such situations. If you don’t want to differentiate players for their skill to cancel things in time, that is a solution for it.

The construction isn't canceled, the bc here is destroyed.
Def i don't see it making it into the game.
Also in the way i see it, canceling a t1 unit shouldn't give back the mass, because it should be reclaimed. Eg, facto use a reclaim beam to get the mass back from the unit, and when this is finish it can start a new unit.

Should be noted that when factories are destroyed units under production leave wrecks.

When I cancel a unit I usually do it because I want to immediately start making something I need. Leaving a wreck to reclaim when canceling would be the opposite of a QOL improvement in that case.

If a factory or mex is killed while upgrading, should those resources be given back or left in the wreck to be reclaimed rather than lost? And why?
