Duke and Mavor

I'm a mediocre player, but my impression is good players just don't build certain units because they're not worth it. That seems to include T3/T4 stationary artillery. Is there a reason the Duke and Mavor are not made more attractive?

Aeon T3 Arty is the best so people tend to build that during the late game stage if it's a possibility. If not, then Duke/Phim are built.

Mavor is a game ender and you'll only really see it on late game setons or other 20x20 high mass maps. You can build 3 dukes for the price of a mavor. On a 10x10, that's going to be 3 arty pieces that reach the entire map and do slightly more DPS than a mavor.

On a 20x20, arty can't reach the whole map and the mavor range gives it that boosted edge that makes it "worth it" compared to 3 dukes.

Thanks, that clarifies some of the differences. I guess one take-away is that T3 arty is not meant to be used unless there is a T3 units/experimentals stale-mate that can't be broken with one or two extra Fatboys or Monkeylords.

Another important thing is the lower firing randomness of the emissary/mavor which makes them more attractive, considering the inaccuracy of some t3 arties. Emissary has also a bigger range in comparison to other t3 arties.

T3 stationary artilary is classed as a T3 building, but in function and cost they behave more like a T4 building. Its very rare to see them not becouse they are bad (they are, in fact, very good) its just that most games end before anyone has reached the point of building a T3 arty. In a similar way the UEF T4 arty Duke (and Salvation, Aeon T4 arty) cost significantly more than the T3 arty and is only ever used in really long games of at least 30 mins, if not 40 or 50.

Some units are truly never used for being less useful then other options avaliable, such as the UEF T3 bot Titan, but artilary is allways a good option if you have the time to make one.

We're gonna reduce the difference in range between t3 arties in the next balance patch considerably (right now the biggest range is 900 for aeon and the smallest is 700 for cybran)

This is simply not true. The Titan is a very strong and frequently used unit.
