Go try my othuum rework mod in the vault.

Less drastic than what you've proposed but works really nice in game.

I don't think a main battle tank that has to deploy is a good idea.

also bear in mind that starcraft players have a much higher apm and need to concentrate on far fewer things at once than in supcom - microing armies takes a greater portion of their time.

not to mention that this isn't exactly noob friendly

On the idea itself, maybe it could be automated, like for T3 arti. There is no toggle, they just enter firing position when stopped.

I agree, I should have said limiting the attrition ;)
Not renewing but still, that prolongs the life of the game a little.

You could give it a similar mode to the selen, undetectable until it moves, but that would probably be OP. maybe you could make it only active after 20 seconds or something, another idea would be if an othuum stayed stationary for 10 sec it gains a small restoration field, effecting itself and nearby units, it could be maybe 50hp/sec with a field the size of 10 or so.
