Cybran aa broken

Postby Shai--Hulud » 14 Aug 2015, 22:36

I have seen it so many times: cybran stationary aa (t1 and t2) is useless against scouts - literally as they can't hit scout planes AT ALL. See attached file (i can upload the video if needed). White keeps scouting me all the time thereby passing my aa directly (blue arrow) or flying by right next to it though withing range of my aa (green arrow). The route doesn't make any difference as all planes, i.e. 100% of them, pass without any problem - 2 t1aa and 1 t2 aa can't stop it.

Is this a bug? It certainly is some broken t1 aa imo as any of the other factions doesn't have any problem with shooting down scouts. :(

get 1-2 inte, and job is done.
i'ts not the goal of flak to kill scout at all. we can argue to some point for T1 aa, but if you have some aa defense, you can afford an air facto and 2 inte. T1/T2 static aa, does awsome job against air unit already. No need to change anything imo.

"i'ts not the goal of flak to kill scout at all." Aha. Is that an official statement or just some random talk? The term anti air implies to me: something that is designed to be effective against something that is in the air. Scout planes are in the air, aren't they? How come neither t1 nor t2 can hit them? (Did you actually notice that t2 doesnt kill scouts too? So the only way to kill scouts with stationary aa is to build SAMs?) And I build aa BECAUSE I have no intis. Besides, Uef etc have no issues with killing scouts so...

It's fair that t2 aa can't hit scouts. It's slow firing, aoe attack. It's meant to attack and damage clouds of air units, not scouts.
Any/all stationary t1 aa will kill the scouts pretty effectively from my experience.
Replay would be nice yes please :D, and also would be good to see what happens jn same situation with the other factions t1 aa.

I made similar experiences when playing Seton's front recently.. I ended up making about 10 t1 AA on the direct path of the scouts and yet they still did not hit.. pretty sure 1 AA was enough if scouts flew directly above it, at least with other races/in previous patches.

On screenshot in a 1rst post, there is a height difference, plane flyes above montain before flying above aa, elevation is not instant, so plane flyes very high compared to aa, i think any t1 or t2 aa would miss in that case.

In reference to keyser:
Get a Czar or an Ahwassa and t1 scouts shouldn't be a problem anymore.

No mountains in my case, they miss anyway.

i did a short test with cybran t1 aa and let scouts fly by.

interestingly if they run from bottom to top...they are hit with the last shots of the aa.
from top to bottom...no hit at all.

I think its even a difference if the turret has to turn counterclockwise or clockwise.
