I have started a discussion about T3 engineer movement speed here: /viewtopic. ... 80#p164976
(following onwards for a few pages).
TLDR:
T3 engineers are the slowest unit of FAF. Taking twice as much time to reach a target than SACUs do (almost).
A buff in speed would do the following things:
- Decrease path finding hell, by making t3 engineers more useable in contrast to t1 engineers, also getting them out of t1 clumps faster, without affecting T1 engys, so no change in play is needed.
- Help with building T4. You either go tons of T1 engineers, engineering stations (only 2 factions have them) or SACUs, T3 engineers could become a more viable option.
- Not affect balance (much). All factions get faster engineers and nobody gets an upper hand over the other. Factions without engy stations at least can use t3 engineers more.
- Decrease ETAs on Builds further away.
This buff in speed wouldn't change FAF in a big way. It would only decrease hassle.
which is why I request to bump t3 engineer speed to t2 engy level and increasing acceleration accordingly to fit the new speed.
EDIT: A more sophisticated proposal was made by McNeil / PsychoBoB: /viewtopic. ... 80#p165000
(even though I think the T2 buff in his proposal in speed is over the top (t1 should still be the fastest among engineers), but lets all be open to the numbers)
