T3 ACU BP

Have the frequency and success of T3 com drops on ladder changed since the BP, RAS and HP changes? They have on setons, i very rarely see them anymore, which i think is a shame. I'm not sure if it's just because people have "forgotten" about them or whether these changes have just really disincentivised doing them. Contrary to what i initially thought would be the case, i think the RAS changes might have had the biggest effect.

ASF are out quicker in many case, and can be squeezed out if necessary before t3 pgen, but i think problem for someone com dropping could be the higher tech bp available to the enemy, a t3 air fac already there well before drop and an enemy ACU that doesn't need to cancel ras and can tank a bit of damage for a bit while you get your defenses set up. While i thought the lack of ras would make pgens far more of an achillies heel this doesn't appear to be case. Com drops to navy spots also seem to be a thing of the past after the recent discovery of t2 pgens.

Are T3 ACU drops extinct on ladder and other fake maps or just the holiest place in all of RTS?

I didn't like the bp changes either... However.

What do you mean about people getting ASF "Out quicker in many case" ? Maybe I missed something, but I'm pretty sure that RAS was nerfed partly so that it's harder/impossible to get the necessary power for ASF production on RAS alone, forcing T3 PGen construction, in addition to factory cost nerfs that make it take longer to get there?

The main benefit of RAS as i see it was that you could effectively pay for all of your teammates RAS off of your overflow while upgrading your factory to T3. They would then pay for your air production for the next 10 minutes because nobody needs 6k power at min 11. RAS wasn't done because air was out super quick with it, it was done because it provided your entire team with such a large eco boost it would be silly not to. When you consider that 50% of the factions have double RAS i don't think i'd be far off in saying air can be out faster by about a minute. And if you are 100% sure your opponent is going to com drop you can make an ASF before a T3pgen and have one by about 8 minutes. Many people didn't finish RAS before minute 8, and even then you only had a T2 air fac.

Essentially.

And on a side note; it has arguably made an early air advantage far more potent on setons as well since people have less eco to deal with it and losing pgens is now far more crippling.

On top of the other points Mel brings up, on Seton's even with your team doing 0 scouting you will notice the com drop coming at you when it hits rock's or beach's land at the latest. So there's still like 15 seconds of flying in game time in order to reach air, so best case scenario you're landing with a t3 com on an air base that has already got at least 1 t2 pd up and possibly some t1s as well.

The only viable drop on an air player is Hal's cancerous combomb from front IME.
