Auto-OC

Postby JaggedAppliance » 16 Nov 2016, 17:32

So I didn't see much or any discussion about this, what do people think of it?

To me it removes micro and buffs acus, I'm not really a fan of it. People were saying before that you would still rather OC manually so you can make sure you're getting the best OCs in but I don't think this has stood up in reality. Auto-OC ensures your OC is used almost as soon as it's available which is just better for the vast majority of the game. Auto-OC also allows you to follow an ACU and OC at the same time which wasn't possible before, the acu has to stop walking to OC normally.

I actually have a post about this in the works in my thread but just haven't finished it yet.

Simplified version, idea is nice but the current version has too many problems and is too OP compared to the manual one.

meh. its not what people said it would be. its just straight buff for acu, in something thats already pretty strong, if not op

in equilibrium we just nerfed fire rate but whatever, its like its own kind of upgrade which costs in pgens to use early game and bscly free lategame. kinda interesting in its own right tbh.

On early game, i really try to optimize my OC, i often wait 2 or 3 second to be sure to make a beautiful OC and get multiple tank.
Also on early game, your e storage take time to refill, so i dont think auto oc could be something nice.

FYI - We can nerf auto-OC independently of normal. It's a separate weapon.

The big upside is that it isn't as micro intensitive. You don't have to babysit your ACU to fire an OC every 5 sec (In the late t2 stage) and that means that you can spend your attention mostly elsewhere. I've done enough uef shieldcom pushes before i knew about the auto OC where my acu was fighting non stop at front for 3+ min, with 2/3 t2 pgens (which also meant a fast refilled e storage)for rushing shieldcom and spamming mobile shields, for which you constantly have to micro your ACU and army and have almost no time for developing your base. With auto OC you can do both at the same time and still have spare time to prepare some drops and/or other stuff.

So yeah. I'd say the auto OC is really really strong in the midgame and the 'early' lategame. It's useless in the first 10min though.

How about we add a manual toggle? Then when you have enough power and/or you are in combat often, you toggle it on and there are your constant OCs. Make OCs prioritize units as follows:
Highest tech
Clusters of units
ACU
Don't complain about that which you aren't willing to change.

There is a toggle already, it's unfortunately not clear that it is there. It should be made more visible.

I enable to not be at an disadvantage against someone that has it on. I lose precious seconds having to disable it so that I can OC the right targets. Maybe there is a key-bind to disable the auto toggle, if only I could find a free key
