New Here, had a few questions.

Postby JaggedFel » 19 Sep 2015, 22:14

So Supreme Commander was one of my favorite RTS games to play back when I was growing up and I just now discovered this wonderful community set up here. Being that I haven't played in a long time though, I was concerned that the re-learning curve would absolutely kill me. Do a good number of average players still play this or is all that's left are people who know the game inside and out?

Hello there, welcome.

I joined about a year ago, before that I had know the game mostly through skirmish and campaign mode. There are few "real" noobs, but using the matchmaker (matches you against players of your ranking) you can reach soon enough a stage where you win half the time ;)

Give it a try, if you know the game already, you'll catch up.

It's horrible when you are new. Here are mostly players who are playing the game since years, to say all are good players. Watch some replays and try the same. That helps a lot. If you have more questions, just ask here.

Sometimes it feels like most of the population can't count to 3, read the wiki, maybe play uef till you get the hang of things, and listen to higher players and you will be in top shape on no time. Also watch your replays

Never thought I'd disagree with Voodoo (unless he's being sarcastic). Well the first few ladder games can be tough because it assumes you're a mid range player and works out you're not the hard way :). After 6 or so games though you should come up against equally clueless players, then it's all good!

According to recent statistics 90% of players are noobs :p

Have fun

Well thank you for the warm welcomes, it's good to see that this game is still alive. I'll be brushing up one some cpu matches and watching gyles casts for a bit before jumping in. Hope to see you on Setons in the near future.

Gyle's casts are very entertaining. If you want something more detailed watch speed2's tutorials
