What's the best way from a UI perspective to use these to reclaim on the front lines?

If by UI you mean whether to use a patrol order, attack move, or manual reclaim, then I'd suggest manual reclaim. Sacu's are best used to reclaim in combat zones with massive experimental wrecks, usually no more than 2 or 3. It's way better to just manually click on these rather than issuing a general patrol order. It doesn't waste much time, and there isn't a chance of it getting dragged into random fights or reclaiming random trees.
