I'm always getting raided

So I find myself constantly in games Where I get raided at the start, fend it off and get lulled into a false sense of security where I then get hit by another, far more powerful raid

I've tried to attach a replay, but my replay vault is empty and It won't let me download it for some reason. If anyone knows any guides/posts on this, send them, but a replay where I got raided is UID: 5105410

In the meantime, what are the best ways to protect against the various hit and run tactics? The worst I find are when the opponents suddenly shift to t3 and rush Loyalists or Harbingers past my base.

The best advice that doesn't go into too much detail is probably to try to always have about equal amounts of units of the same tech level and send them to intercept the raids.

Having good radar coverage gives you more time to do that.

But especially against loya/harb it's very hard, even the best players struggle with it. The most important thing here is to try to be t3 equally fast or faster than your opponent if you can't kill him before.

But getting raided is a normal part of the game and can't be completely avoided, even when you should try to minimize it. But the other part of it is to raid more yourself, which also keeps your opponent and his units busy, so he can raid less.

TL;DR - Build T2 radar.

Petric's right. T2 radar has great coverage. If y ou cannot afford such a radar - build several T1 behind hills or in your expansions. Then there's the part of scouting. If you scout, you can 1) spot the coming raids; 2) find spots to raid yourself. Those could be undefended mexes, a small part of the enemy army which you can surround, kill and retreat BEFORE enemy reinforcements arrive.

Early game:
There is no solution to getting raided, especially on larger maps. The only solution is to raid in return.

Trade a raid for a raid and you're equal.

Try and stop a raid and you will almost always fail against good players -- then you're behind since they didn't get raided.


Late game:
Radars, constant scouting, PRACTICE. The more you practice scouting every minute and playing zoomed out so you SEE the results of your scouting, the better you will be. You can't stop a raid if you don't see it coming.


But really. Raid in return and you'll see results. Try and be impermeable and you will not only fail, but get frustrated, too. Think of raiding as a contest to see who does it better, not a forced defense.
