UEF Coastal Defence after Loosing Navy

Postby Hawkei » 09 Jun 2016, 03:00

Continuation of a discussion relating to what a UEF player should do once navy is lost. Specifically dealing with the Beach position on Setons Clutch.

My recommendations, in order of effectiveness, were as follows.

1. Spamming Riptides + Storks.
2. Spamming Broadswords
3. Fending off with 3 Ravager + Klink Hammer + Shield Generator + TML
4. Fending off with Demolisher + Mobile Shield + Stealth Generator
5. Fending off with Fatboy + Shield Generator + Stealth Generator

Or combinations thereof.

Considering losing beach navy typically makes you lose your base, a lot of these standoff measures are really void, any pd's or anything can happily be taken out by cruisers,

Thus, i will add the ultimate solution.

1: Bitch in chat about teammates.

I'd like to challenge this assertion. Because, I can recall specific examples of successful coastal defences which have outlasted the entire game. I have managed to keep a Rock player occupied for an entire game, without loosing my eco, and without getting back into the water - and tying up all of their attention and economy with my turtle... Which ultimately allowed my Front + Air players to make a major breakthrough and win the game.

The reason why a naval player will usually steamroll the enemy base, is because their opponent didn't recognise their loosing position soon enough and didn't prepare a viable coastal defence.

I'd have to pull this off an old computer. Though, being Cybran, I can understand how this whole 'defence' concept might be difficult for you. :P

I don't think your experiences are valuable to someone who is actively trying to improve. The mere suggestion of a fatboy for any anti-naval role makes me shudder.

Well. TBH I've seen it done, I've never actually done it myself. I've always opted for other options because they are way more mass efficient. You will notice that I put it at the bottom of my list for a reason.

Things I have tried and have worked:

1. Stork + Riptide Spam
2. A large number of Broadwords
3. Demolishers + Mobile Shields + Stealth Field Generator

However, in executing these, I have always found it necessary to protect my eco. Which is done with Shield Generators + TMD, and a small number of Klink Hammers.
