Tell me your Aeon T2 Phase

Postby PsychoBoB » 28 Aug 2015, 14:37

Because there are some attempts to nerf the harbie rush, i ask me what aeon on T2 land phase has for options to not need T3 land very quickly. As soon as there are more than 10 pillars/rhinos or 5-6 ilshies on the field i have to capitulate until i have T3.
I play aeon now since supcom vanilla and with the actual balancing i don't see a lot alternatives. Sure air is really strong on T2 phase, but all counters to land units (mercies and gunships) are soon negated by flak.

So please tell me your strategies for aeon on T2 land to keep up with the other factions!

Obsidians with mobile shields are pretty strong. I haven't looked closely at the numbers in sandbox or anything, but the hold their own against other T2. I generally build a mix of units:
5 obsidian
3 mml
1 mobile AA
2shields
1scout
Even a couple of these platoons seem to wreck vast amounts of T1 and can hold up against a bit of T3

I think if a player like BH makes such comments a change of the harbie and/or T3 update should not be done without a change in the T2 phase of aeon.

Just give the obsidian more range to make him a bit more like the ilshavoh. He has the lowest range of all heavy T2 units, needs power babysitting to not loose the shield and costs the same as the ilshie. But he definitely can not compete with it.

You do realise you have an insane t1 advantage?

That's your good part: You have very strong t1, and can have double gun to destroy t2 units and even t3 ones, early.

Obsidians DO NOT need buffing. In-range, they already perform excellently. They don't even overkill that much, either. They can only effectively be kited by t2 rangebots and the ilsh, and even then not very well.

Then you have insanely good early t3, too. We really don't need a stronger t2 phase for aeon, or they would be completely op on land.

I didn't say that aeon has a problem on land. But if the early harbie is nerfed then it could be difficult to keep up.

(Well i think, i'm not that good to get a problem if the T3 land fac is online 1 or even 2 mins later. My problems are elsewhere... )

opsidian is already good enough. i would gladly trade it for rhino. you just need to learn to set up a proper T2 spam and not queuing T3 right after T2. there is nothing to complain about aeon T2, maybe only the mml.
