Bringing back the old red and blue colors

I don't know about you, but I'm very picky with colors, and for one i (and two of my friends) do not like FAF's Red and Blue colors in the lobby. We REALLY liked normal FA Red and Blue colors a lot more.

But I don't dubt that someone else really likes FAF's version of Red and Blue. That's why I suggest we just re-add FA's original Red and Blue colors to the color selection, that way we can keep everyone happy(-ier).

I have already done the changes, and can supply the GameColors.lua file, it has been tested.

If anyone wants any of the original FA colors re-added, I can do that too (except the very very dark grey color from FA, that was annoying). NONE of the original colors will replace the FAF ones, so really, there's just more choice now.

is it possible to code the lua in the way that everybody can choose between the faf red and fa red, but that only ONE of these two can be chosen?

i mean that 2 people cannot choose both faf red and fa red (because they are hard to distinguish). only one person is allowed to choose one of the two different types of red. the same should be done to blue and green (the dark and bright green can be very hard to distinguish on certain maps).

bringing back black is a great idea!


when this cannot be coded, i think that one green should be removed and black added. otherwise it will become very difficult to distinguish between friendly and hostile forces...

As requested, the black color has been readded (although to me it's still extremely annoying, but oh well.)

I'm not that good with Lua, but i wouldn't call it impossible, however i will not be doing it. All i'm doing is adding the original FA colors, nothing more ^^

when people will get bothered by similar colors, they need to find a solution to the problem!
maybe someone will remember my article and will try to do this.

Be VERY careful. The first colors are picked by the game when using automatch (player 1 = color 1, player 2 = color 2,....)

Meaning that the first two colors must be very different and color-blind friendly.

Also, as GW will probably propose up to 4vs4 matches, the first 8 colors must be chosen very wisely. That's not the case in what I'm seeing.
