someone could type "Hola", and it would show up as "Hello" for me.

and if somebody "writes hey waz up, does anyone know howto host game" you got a problem, most games have only english chat/forums, english is the most important language on the the world and esspecially in europe, guessing that 90% of all users here are <30 it's not too late to learn english

and nobody needs to speak perfectly english, seriously if people would correct all my english fails (or ZePs english fails lol) ....

saying that people may feel unwellcome cause its an english chat is just weired

Right well it was only a suggestion but as TartarusMkII pointed out a rewording of the rules couldn't hurt

But again there's no need to overdramatize. In no way was I making a go at english or why it is the chosen language of faf. I'm not trying to burry English in a sea of other laguages or anything. As sheppard pointed out it's never too late to learn another language, I totally agree with that, and I believe this applies to languages other than English

Would it not just be possible to add a couple of other chat channels say for a couple of major languages spoken on FAF? As the server knows the location of players it shouldn't be too hard to find out where the most traffic is from, then perhaps add the top two or three languages that are not english? (I would guess french and german, but I might be wrong).

Alternatively, perhaps a single multi-languange (nonenglish) channel. Although that could be a mess...

Having multiple languages in main chat would be a shambles, but I see no reason why there couldn't be additional language channels like the Nomads one.

It should always default to Aeolus on login though, or you risk fragmenting the community too much.

Because I don't speak german or russian, and people will try to get help/info on these language, and it's not good that they don't have a reliable source (or an answer at all).
