well, there are craggy rock decals on them. But they do not render from this far. and the heightmap does not allow to finely shape cracks and stuff, unfortunately. i see what you mean but not a way to incorporate it. though i myself find the boulders to look especially appealing. i did not just put down a blob of heightmap and texture, i spend quite a while shaping and texturing them to make the most of the limited ressources. i aimed for a little of a cartoony style, giving the rocks lite dark outlines.

Shameless self-advertising inbound. So far the map has got a consistent rating of 5 points from 5 people... well it had until some hater gave it 1 point... I also know who it was (with a probability bordering on certainty), but whatever. Anyway, apparently the people who played it so far really liked it, maybe you want to give the map a try too. /shameless self-advertising

I have noticed that there is a guy that systematically rates any new map with a 1 on the vault.
Poor sap it is his only reason for living... denigrate other peoples work.

Part of the vault has always annoyed me that there are people who make ridiculous maps (some sort of colorless thermo map, of which we have a 1000), and then immediately rate them 5/5, while rating other maps 1/5, killing the rating of your own hard work. It makes me rate my own maps, and other reasonably nice (3/5) maps a 5/5.

it's just incredibly annoying that your hard work is not rewarded by at least an accurate rating while the (genuinely) crap maps can't be forced down to an accurate rating.

True, and it makes me furious. At a point where the other map of mine had not had a single game played on it it had already received a 2 point rating... (yes, oddly 2, not 1 )
