Cobalt Valley - Feedback

Postby ika » 17 Nov 2013, 01:09

Hello! I'm opening this thread in the hope of getting some feedback on the map Cobalt Valley.

It has been a few months since I released it, and it finally got upgraded from beta to final version with the new ladder system. It's both an honor and a great pleasure to have my map played by people here on FAF. I am now working on a new map, and for this occasion I thought it would be great to receive feedback on my previous map first, what people liked or disliked about gameplay, mex placement, or even scenery.

To start the thread, here is a few things I have noted myself:

The good:
  • It is very open and offers an interesting struggle for land control
  • The four pillars in the middle create the opportunity for nice com on com action
  • The map have a good "flow" overall
The bad:
  • The game can get a bit dull if a balanced has been obtain between the to players
  • The sides of the map are under-exploited. I maybe should have add more mexes there, but there is already so much happening in the middle that it may not be necessary
  • No decals. It's only eye candy, but I can't get the offical editor working, and Hazard's editor in a pain to work with for decals.

What's your view on the map? Why did or didn't you select the map for ladder games?

You can message me about the Official map editor ,we'll find a solution. Otherwise I could add some decals.

I can't even imagine how much pain it was to make this heightmap without official editor tools D:

I don't play 1v1s but map looks awesome :)

For me with only Photoshop and the official alpha it is no problem,
I only use the official editor and the marker editor (not scenario),
because I can't load maps with the scenario efitor after saved with the official one.
