Map folder not showing in explorer

Postby Lionhardt » 27 Aug 2013, 02:15

Hi, I got a strange problem. The folder of the map I just created won't show up in the explorer. Althougfh when I navigate to it via "open" in the editor, it does show... I can load the map, edit it and save it. But it just is like hidden when I try to acces its folder through the explorer. Another thing that probably has to do with this is, that I cannot "save as" the map. I can only simply "save" it. Any idea what might be causing these things?

Windows ? Did you restart your computer after you noticed those strange things happening? Also , you can't "save as" in the ...\supreme Commander\maps folder.

Yes, I did restart the computer. And yes, Windows. The thing with the "save as" is, I cannot just not "save as" in that specific folder, but not even the "save as" pop up will come up... or did you mean you can't "ave as" at all?

Wrong forum, also, you did not even said what your map folder is supposed to be.

Why wrong forum? It is a map editor related problem and not some general supcom technical thing, as far as I can tell...
And what do you mean I didn't say, what my map folder is supposed to be? The folder with the map I created. That is what I said. The folder that contains the map. This folder should be found in the maps folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander\maps but it is not... or actually it is, as I can open, close and reopen it... but it does not get displayed in the explorer normally.

Ha sorry, didn't noticed it was related to the map editor.

Hmm I can't really tell you where the problem is.

My idea:
1.Create a new folder on your desktop.
2. Go and "open" the map (via map editor) , copy all files in that folder and paste them in the new folder.
3. Delete the "hidden folder" (via map editor).
4. Copy - paste your new folder in the ...\maps

Well, that didn't work. When I try to copy the folder it tells me that the element was not found... something seems really off here...
When I rightclick the folder of my map and say "open in new window" it says, that this directory refers to some paths that is no longer accessible.

Edit: I was able to trick the system by making a link to the desktop. This way I could copy the files from the linked folder.

Edit2: Unfortunaetly my supcom installation seems to be broken as well. Whenever I try to launch it, I get a runtime error. I guess there is some correlation.

Edit3: For some reason the runtime error is caused by patch 3280... But this patch is needed for running the editor... After I had reinstalled SupCom for some reason I could see the folder of my map. After installing the patch and creating a new test map, this new one was no longer displayed in the maps folder, but he old one stil is... stuff is really broken here...

First, run SupCom Vanilla and check the version number, it must be Version: 1.1.3280

Second, there is an issue with the patch to v3280. The problem it does not update correctly from the second to last patch (I think v3260). You may need to uninstall SupCom and either:
A. Reinstall from CD, and then apply the patch to v3280
B. Install from Steam
