Any suggestions for co-creation of maps?

Postby Vuud » 21 May 2020, 19:27

Hey,

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to go about co-creating a map?

Specifically, a friend and I are looking at trying to make some maps together and we are pretty far away. We've been thinking through how we can both effectively contribute to the map but not stomp on each other (like I assume a git merge on the map files will NOT go well lol).

One thing that came to mind is the height-maps, which can be exported, tweaked, and imported without disrupting someone working in the editor.

Obviously planning and sketching are a thing that can done on the side

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

You could probably try using a teamviewer or some such software and have one person remote access your monitor and mouse.

Indeed... we got started with discords screen share. That was just very... one sided.

We've come up with a few additional things that can be done and then merged... Especially after the basics are done

- Detail work in Photoshop on height maps
- Markers and pathing can be done on a copy and exported / imported
