Waterfalls/streams flowing downhill?

Does anyone have an idea if it is possible to create the appearance of water flowing downhill in the editor?

In the map editor? No, i dont think it is possible, unless you're able to create the illusion of a raised platform using decals, water is bound to only one plane.

I know water appears flat at the height set in the editor. Maybe a water color exists that you can splat on a wall and put a decal as you suggest to create something looking like a waterfall?

You may be able to create an animated model that looks like a waterfall. For example theta has that special arch

I will have to have a look at theta when i am off work. My main idea was to have a small water pool above sea level and some water running downhill as a small stream dividing terrain and for optical looks, like a spring flowing from a mountain.

you can only have one real level of water ... so the "small pool" will have to be fake

there are 2 ways (that I can think of) to achieve a waterfall like effect (its only an effect, the upper lake wont be accessible with water units and the entire mountain wont be accessible with land units. Air units wont change their elevation due to it either, so dont make it too high):

1) create a custom prop that uses something like the tracks for tanks (basically a part of the texture is moving from left to right and thus creating some illusion of moving parts). I am not sure if thats possible for non-moving units.

2) have a look at the nomads shield, it has a yellow/orange wave going over it from time to time. Using this method would mean to create a prop and a second (waterfall shaped) structure where the entire texture is moved.

I would try the second method, but both of them require significant effort (and modeling skill)

Didnt intend for navy to sail downhill like a ramboat trying to slice a battleship like cheddar cheese:)
But didnt think about hover units. This may be a problem.

On another note and more importantly, would it be possible to import 3d models from this polygon map generator with the import function?

Not sure, but once I get my current map done I plan to with dudekahedron to achieve my goal of adding new textures and props... This sounds like a nice project and I will certainly enjoy helping if I can.
