*SOLVED* Water elevation problem

Postby Smokamrok » 29 Jul 2016, 15:26

Hello again,

I made this little 1v1 map for fun and everything went rather well, considering that I'm new to Supcom mapping. However there is one problem.
If you open the map in-game you will find that the water looks like crap. I honestly don't know what caused this. Water colour is standard and sun colour as well.
Please help if you know what caused it and how to fix it.

By the way, now that the water problem is solved you can download the properly working version of the map down here if you want to.

Okay, ive seen this before, happened to me on my first map

So, your mountains are too high, and it bugs stuff out :/

to fix, lower them, (export heightmap, lower the difference between the white and black sliders by like, 15? and then reimport the file,

This should fix it up fine ^.^

On a side note, have you read viewtopic.php?f=53&t=12604 ?

I did as you said, exported heightmap, lowered the difference between the sliders, imported back, I have tried higher difference values as well, but the problem still persists.
Btw ya I have read your topic ;)

Really? it seems to work fine on my end, just bump the white slider down to about 100 instead of 128, check your water levels, "shake" your markers and props so they're not floating in the air, package and go :P

The reduction of the mountain height works fine if I start the map in original Supreme Commander. However starting the map in FAF somehow magically reverts the mountain height to how it was before, therefore causing the water glitch again. Why is that happening, any ideas?

If I had forgotten to copy the map to FA directory, I would be unable to launch it in-game, but I can launch it, it's just that the exact map-file works in SupCom original but if I start it in FAF the water starts glitching again and the heightmap gets reset.

I guess I was too vague, you forgot to copy the new* map version to the supcom fa directory

If it's loading it's probably an old version

I am not that stupid ;)
I have copied it like a 100 times now again and again, still the problem persists. Later I even have changed the map on purpose to make all props floating props, in order to test if they will float in FAF as well. In original SupCom they float as intended and the mountains are not as high, just as I intended. But in FAF the props are not floating even though they should be floating and the mountains are super high, as if I never lowered them. On top of that the water still looks like crap.
