*SOLVED* Error while importing edited Heightmap RAW files

Hello,

I tried to make a 10 km x 10 km (512 x 512) map symmetrical using photoshop.
I had no problem exporting the RAW file from the map editor, however after I edit the file in Photoshop and save it, the file size decreases suddenly from 514 KB to 257 KB and the map editor refuses to import it, stating the following:

Before I edited the original RAW file in Photoshop, upon opening it Photoshop wanted me to set the RAW options, I set them as followed:

I saved the RAW file as grayscale.

Does anybody know what I did wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated

Seems you have done everything right, maybe just save the edit onto the og export file and dont change anything unless needed to as per the wiki says, or make sure your file has (gray/16) while editing

Also when you save the raw you need to set mode to IMB PC, for some reason it sometimes has machintos as default.

The problem is that Photoshop only lets me edit the RAW options upon opening the file. So I tried the following:
I exported the original RAW heightmap using the supcom map editor, I opened this RAW file using Photoshop, It asked me to set the RAW options, I set them as stated above, I duplicated half of the RAW image in order to make a symmetrical heightmap, I saved this file as Grayscale under a new filename. While saving it as a .RAW file all I could change is the Header, I left it at Zero. After saving it, the file had exactly half the amount of KB of the original exported heightmap.RAW
(Original: 514 KB. Edited file: 257 KB)

Now I tried to open the edited (symmetrical) file with Photoshop again. However when I set the RAW options to the same settings I used for the original file it comes with the error message:

And I'm only able to open the file once I set the depth to 8 Bits.

You're saving it as a grayscale? you need to be saving it as a raw file

just save over the one you exported

I didn't save the file as grayscale, how would that even work? I saved it as a RAW file but I saved the color mode of that file as grayscale. The file itself remained a .RAW file.
I'm sorry if I didn't explain it well enough, English is not my native language. Feel free to ask for more details

See attached files, those settings work for me. I assume that when you do the mirroring you dont change the size of image?

Yes I set the settings exactly like you did, however for some reason I can't set the byte order when saving the file, only while opening it.
Perhaps my Photoshop version is too old? Although it should be able to do that despite its age or am I wrong?

My PS version is 1.01

Ok I found the problem. My PS version was too outdated. a newer one does have the full RAW options.
