gamedata/env ?

Postby Lionhardt » 24 Jul 2015, 14:15

In cluster freak I found that it uses as water normals /env/tropical/layers/drysand001_normals.dds

But I don't have any env folder in my gamedata folder. Only an Environment folder, but the drysand001_normals.dds is not in there. Whats up with that? The texture is loaded apparently. But I can't find it anywhere.

It might be from FA, if you are using only SC textures and stuff it might not be there.
I wrote guide and put togethr files that you need to have all the things in editor.
http://wiki.faforever.com/index.php?tit ... ting_Tools
Last part is copy pasting some files from FA gamedata to SC
Read it careefully and make a backup of those files first, since this will break original Supcom

Ok cool. So I backup my bin and gamedata folder of supcom vanilla, because adding those files into gamadata and bin will break vanilla. But it's not irreversibly, right? So, if I replace the modified folders with my backup ones again, vanilla will work again, right?

Okay.. I don't see a difference... I now got some rather useless "aeon" and "uef" and so on tab, but that's it. I still cant locate hat drysand001_normals.dds. There is neither an "env" in FA nor in Vanilla. I mean, yes, there was env.scd... but that's a file.

And my Vanilla also still works... ?

Ok, I do too. But how do I load it as a water texture like it's done in Cluster Freak?

ok, I can think of two solutions, second one might be more sexy

First one is to paste that dds file into your map folder. Then set path to it. This way you will have one extra file with your map and you will have to set it everytime you change version of the map.

Second option is to click in top left corner File - Export - Water. Save the file somewhere. This will save watter settings in lua file that can be edited by any text editor. Open is and change the path as you want, save it. Then import is in editor. This way should not require update everytime you change version of map since it doesnt look into map folder for dds file.
