I think the argument can safely be made that one of the main causes of lag, especially on large maps and Seton's, is ASF spam. You can debate whether it is the engineers initializing, pathfinding, or strictly the huge numbers but in any case it is the air. As the community is gaining players we are getting more people with less than perfect computers, and it would be nice to ease the burden on them and the players stuck in lagging games by doing something with the air problem.

Proposal--- Increase the cost of ASF only (not t1 or t2) by anywhere from 10% to 50%, and at the same time increase HP and DPS by 10-50%. This way the balance for a given mass value is the same, performance of one faction vs another is unaffected (speed and handling is the same), and responding to threats like T4 and strat bombers is not changed at all.

If we voted in, say 30%, there would be 30% less ASF on the map and 30% less engineer stop and start, but you would not change the actual amount of firepower or response time at all. Also, since t1 Inti would not be changed, you still have a fast early game response to air threats.

I think this would do a lot to help with the -2 and -3 speeds we see regularly on Seton's in the late game where currently 300-500 ASF are engaging.

uhm, no, it would increas the gap between t1/t2 and ASF (T3) and there would not be less engys

Lag and pathing are pretty much the only items that cause me to not enjoy the game as much as I could.

ASF have no pathfinding issues and i doubt this would have an noticeable inpact to the sim speed

By the time you get to t3 air, the vast majority of players who know anything about the game already have 30-50 engies on their air factory.... at that point a 30% increase on build time is negligible. Also, the effectiveness/mass is still the same, so I don't see a gap between t1 and t3 as it stands.

By pathfinding, I just mean the swarms of ASF flying around, not issues with pathfinding itself.

Open any seton replay. Wait for an ASF fight. Watch your sim speed dropping to -4/-5. Tell me again ASF are not causing sim speed problems.

If we are debating the center mark on this, I just picked 30% as a good starting number to add to or lessen... that would mean 200 ASF vs 140 ASF. Late game on Seton's, it would be more like 500 vs 350, which is very significant.

+1.
Why was stratocaster's thread on changing engineer collision locked? How is a proposed change to help improve the game's worst trait irrelevant to the upcoming patch?
