Balance number of players on each faction ?

I looked up the forum and found no subject about this :

I think there should be a system to limit player in a faction if another faction has almost no player.

Even if you have 10 extra good players in a faction, they may resist but they won't be able to resist a 100 medium player in an other faction, cause they will have only to defend from massive attack everywhere (and everytime).

So, what about a "balanced" number of player by faction ?
Hope it could help to improve the fun of that game ;)

Rename this post to 'Trying to defend vs the UEF as Aeon is no fun' haha. Yeah, the numbers are kind of wonky. Maybe there should be incentive of some sort for people entering GW to play on the side with the fewest active players. We took over tonne of Aeon territory recently on plants as big as 4v4 alone just because there isn't enough defenders. Even if they can beat a 600 rated player in a 2v1, that doesn't stop the other 8 planets from getting taken over.

Especially when it feels like half of the games against UEF are vs noobs that are impossible to connect to and win 30% of a planet because no one can start a game vs them.

i would like if you were fprced to join a faction. you get to play something new and its only for 1-2 months propably if you dont like your faction.
for playing with friends you could maybe choose 2 pople that youll be in a faction with

So, you'd be okay with never playing Aeon again in GW?

Because some people might be forced to not play their favorite faction and that is straight up stupid. GW isn't here to replace the random faction function in the lobby. I'd bet half of the people that play GW are fanboys for a certain faction.

i did mean excactly that and i know many players wont play their favorte faction.
i think people will get along with it after some time.
when you want faction balance people wont be able to play their favorite factions.

I can understand the issue but there are several problems.
Firstly, if it is unfair that one faction has more players then it will also be unfair that one faction has higher ranked players than another. So, if theoretically, we balance everything out in terms of numbers but not in terms of skill there will still be issues of balanced factions. UEF has really struggled during the last GW and the beginning of this one with a lack of anybody 2000+
Secondly, as has already been mentioned some players won't be able to play their favourite faction. ~This will surely put some people off playing GW and lessen the fun for others.
Lastly, however you intend to balance there will always be issues with people going afk (Chosen?) and some factions having more active members than others. I don't think GW is meant to be exactly fair and balanced - reinforcements planetary defenses etc. Its meant to add something different from normal FAF

As a fellow UEF team member, I agree with everything which Taffy has said. Having been with the UEF since the very beginning. I have experienced those battles when the UEF was severely undermanned and out ranked. At the outset we did loose a lot of territory to the Aeon and the Cybran. We suffered crushing defeats and UEF players were severely de-moralised.

Unlike the other factions, the UEF does not have many players in the 2000+ skill bracket. Most UEF players are in the 1200 to 1700 category. Which means that going up against players like Aulex, Chosen, Bhaal, ZLO and Yarma_Darma is a difficult (if not impossible) task. Faced with this difficulty the UEF has altered it's tactics and is utilising the only clear advantage we have. Numbers.

While I understand the desire for balance on player numbers, what can be done? I mean... it's not just players, it's active players. How can you stop players from going inactive? You can't. This is just one of the realities of war, I think.

Yeah, i think you are somewhere right.

Active or inactive player is obviously the major problem of this.
But i may had active, now i just wait seraphim or UEF took Aeon territory cause there is just nothing to do.

Btw, i'm doing my scub if i want, no matter what...
This tread is not to be insulting or what (right, Hawkei ?) , just an idea (good or wrong) to make the thing go on the right way.

It's not because you think there is nothing to do that there is nothing to do.. Any situation can be reversed quite fast.
