Suggestion for capturing planets.

Suggestion for capturing planets.

Postby Androish » 03 Sep 2013, 12:03

I think alot of people agree that it is a bit too easy to gain planets atm?

sometimes with no fights at all :(

What I suggest is that once a planet have reached 50% occupation of the planet turns on it's "emergency defence systems" that stop any more attacks for a fixed time. (anything from 10 min to like a day? depends how fast you want it to be)

And then a countdown starts somewhere clearly visible for all players.

Then both attackers and defenders will have time to organize for the battle.

If the defenders win they gain say 20% occupation back and same for attackers if they win they get 20% occupation. both up to 70%

This might make for some epic final stance kinda games? :)

Anyways throwing this idea out. feel free to come with suggestions :)

If nobody want to defend, it's normal that is easy to take.

Making things more complicated won't change that fact.

There are no drawback in trying to defend, even a noob can try without hurting his faction.

Another good idea I think if this is considered, when that Emergency time is added, turn the map into a 3v3 or 4v4, making it so that commitment is needed to take the planet,

Let's say that Cybran attacked Aeon planet blah and its reached 50%, A time delay of(Insert) is given and if the Cybran want the planet they must dedicate forces to attack,
And after the time is up whatever force is commited at that time will fight so if Aeon sacrifice 4 players and Cybran only two, that advantage for Aeon is due because of the lack of commitment to take that particular planet, or if Aeon are scattered and no one comes defend, then 1 person might need to take on 4? Thought it be a nice way to put in team games!

But with a timer it will be easier to bring the "top guns"?
some time for a proper defense setup?

Another kinda of-topic scenario:

As it is now the only thing you got to do is overwhelm the other team with more attacks than they can defend. doesn't matter how good you are you will loose ground.

Say another faction have 10 (rank 1) and you have 8 defenders(rank 4) you win all battles in 5 min. The clock will always count downwards for the 2 planets not being defended? And you gain no occupation by winning defense you only stop loosing more?

You gain credits but it helps little. You can buy reinforcements. but in this scenario you are already winning all you battles in about 5 min. so you can try attacking

You attack. then your 8 rank 4 guys attack 8 planets. The 10 of the other faction still just attack, still gaining more occupation than you...

At least with my suggestion you will gain occupation if you win the "decisive battles"

I might be mistaken in the game mechanics?

Sure there are many "Epic Battles" but if there is no record, no history, they are not present.

What about a gw replay vault where you can see all "replays" of your own faction. The "supreme commander" can make some of them public ( 1 per planet) so you have a maximum four "epic battle replays" per planet.

There will be no replay vault.

You will be able to see a planet battle history IF you own it.

And of course all your faction replay.
