Reinforcement - how does it work

Reinforcement - how does it work

Postby Mechsangoku » 20 Aug 2013, 21:28

Hi all

Was just wondering one thing, I haven't found on the forum:

Reinforcements are available depending on your level and credits.
They arrive by air on transports (probably not Exp tho, haven't tried)

If in game you don't built the beacon, you don't activate que countdown so at the end of the game, you don't loose your reinforcements
If you built the beacon and your reinforcement arrives, you loose them.

But if you built the beacon, and your aponent flee before your reinforcement actully arrives, do you loose them ? (I am hoping yes)

They are transported by your faction in that planet.

It's a one-way ticket, and they are lost no matter what. You better use them.

I find it unfair that you lose your reinforcements even if you didn't use them. Its a really nice feature to add more strategic depth indeed, but why is it so punishable? You waste a lot of credits on higher tech / bigger number of reinforcement and its okay if you want to counter someone's attack and that avatar is of a high rank. Further more, if you already have info on that avatar and know what he is capabale of, reinforcements are of great value. But when you are attacking, the only chance to know who will you be playing against is clairvoyance and it doesnt really help... So what you can do now is to chose, to rely solely on your skill or buy some reinforcements to help you win thinking the defender will be higher skilled than you and/or having big rank number and access to them reinforcements and a lot of credits as well. So its basically a gamble. The problem is, you have to use what you bought anyway, and that means that defending faction has an upper hand. If you happen to fight against lower skilled avatar, you just cant save reinforcements for later - you will be wasting credits. But if you use them, you are still wasting credits, cause you could've win that without any extra units.

tl;dr
gamble
unfair to the attacker
waste of credits
too punishable

Well if's you job to know if you need them.
More scouts to see how is the other player doing, did he built his beacon, etc....

But I have found that even if you don't built the beacon, you can loose them :/
And that's not fair :/

IMO all commander should have a reinforcement list, and this list should be enabled based on the gateway beacon.

If you don't built it, reinforcement does not come -> you keep the list
If you do, they either come, or not depending on the time -> you loose the list

You don't know who you are going to fight.

It would be greatly unfair towards less skilled players if you can defeat them without reinforcements, accumulating them for very good players only, while they will have to spend money on every single fight in order to compete.

The intel goes through the map too now. You need to know your enemy in order to plan your reinforcements.
If you don't built it, reinforcement does not come -> you keep the list
If you do, they either come, or not depending on the time -> you loose the list

May or not be changed toward that, it's not an alpha concern.
