Galactic War 2.0

Please explain to me how GW would attract any more players than we gain monthly now? Our problem isn't not being an attractive community/game. The problem is nobody knows about us. And bringing GW back isn't going to change that period.

I don't care whether or not GW brings new players.
I want it back.

What if I told you there were players who played only GW and when it ended they left? In my opinion having GW is a good way how to bring them back. Which means more players

Let's all take a moment to consider our irrelevance. We have around 10,000 active monthly players. As I suggested formerly, the real decision of what to prioritize comes down to the council and the overall player base. I don't really even see the usefulness of expressing individual opinions here (I haven't suggested mine, I have only made a prediction on what the result of a community vote would yield). We might as well just stop pointless discussion and wait for a vote on the client. Suggesting parameters for a remake of something that isn't currently scheduled to be remade is similarly odd.

I simply don't think the list of players is long enough to warrant prioritizing this if a community vote is in favor of something else, as I said I guess we will just wait for a vote.

Whether it will or not wasn't even what i was getting at. Ultimately nobody can know, even you. You're just postulating complete nonsense. There is absolutely nothing that can be done to attract new players yet we had the most users ever literally yesterday? Don't even need new players?

And for what it's worth. If you were telling your buddies about FAF, they would probably be more interested in:
"oh, and there is this cool galactic war feature that lets you join a faction and fight with your faction buddies to take over the universe and shit"

Than:
"we have this really new rating system that was better than the last one because in the last one the good players stayed gooder than the new gooder players which was awful but now it's super awesome. Oh gee! How ratingly spiffing! Let me immediately rush to get a $2 copy on steam to test out the super awesome rating system that is betterer than the previous one i didn't even know about!!"

Imagine if everybody got one other person into FAF? But, like i said, who really knows where the best new user/user retention balance is and how to maximize? Except you of course.

Be gone troll. My point about the player base is very simple. If we are maintaining and even gaining more players without X, why should we be focused on anything with the main purpose of bringing in more players? If we have a stable player base the objective should be quality of life improvements not new or resurrected features.

If the objective is to bring in more players the solution is very simple. Donation campaign and then an ad campaign on platforms like Youtube and Twitch. Gyle trying to do some sort of a let's play with a more notable youtuber could also really help.

well one thing is that gw is a quality of life improvement for the player base. just dont forget that you, or anyone over 1200 for that matter does not qualify as the average player. 1500+ is the top 5%. while they might matter more than some new person because they are vocal and contribute more, they are still the minority.

also a bunch of high rated people also want this back. so it would improve their quality of life too? i guess if you only play sentons its not too relevant though :/

also there is this thing about keeping players playing, not just getting new players. i dont think gw will increase the number of people coming in, but i do think it will help keep them instead of leaving after a couple of hosts where they get kicked from.

Funny that you say I only play Seton's. I've played more ladder games than you've played games period in fact.

There isn't ANYTHING we can do short of an ad campaign to attract new players and to be honest we don't need them. We broke the record for online users literally yesterday. The most important thing for us is to keep our active players around. And while GW can help there, improvements in ranked play overall are much more important.

GW is by far the most requested feature on FAF. I know personally of literally dozens individuals who will come back, and that's only the tip of the iceberg. Also, GW is a huge feature. The relaunch will be accompanied by much fanfare and horn-tooting; a big advertising campaign across social media and tech-space websites, multiples money tournaments in both single and multi-player formats, special casts with special guests, perhaps reach out to Chris Taylor, Wargaming, Nordic, Square Enix for comment.

The plans for GW are vast. They will take an equally vast amount of time to fully program, and with the size of what we're trying to create, it becomes obvious why it's the last thing on the list: There's no point bringing thousands of potential players, curious people, to a platform with unstable and buggy servers, poor matchmaking, and an obtuse, broken client.
