The "Find Games" Tab

Postby MinisterPhobia » 12 Nov 2014, 12:50

Would it be possible to have sorting options, filter options, and an option to switch between a list view on the "Find Games" tab?

Sorting options could be based on numbers of players wanted, number of players in, number of empty slots, map name, map size (in km), how long it's been waiting for, and so on.

Filter options could be much the same as the sorting options but to remove maps that don't fit within parameters.

The switch between the list and grid view would be similar to the difference between "Large Icons" and "Details" when you're changing folder view mode in Windows 7. The grid view that is currently the default view really doesn't work for me.

It would also be nice to have a way to actually list the ranks that we'd like to game with within the game setup window, rather than in the text area, so that the system itself can enforce this. This would also make an excellent addition to the sorting and filter options that I mentioned before.

I would try to do all of this myself to help out, but, I simply don't have the programming skills. I wish I did.

Anyways, thanks in advance for anyone willing to try and take this on! I feel it would be a good change/update to the system!

I think there is some work going on along those lines.

I can't post a line but it's issue number 21 on the lobby repository. It mentions an existing forum post (which I might be able to post as it's internal)

Maybe the display options could be part of that?

Cool, thanks! I've posted in that thread now. With luck, some of these ideas will get some (any) traction!

Is that a whole new lobby you have planned or are you just working on some ideas to integrate?

First, their is nothing completed yet and we focus more on a stable server and bugfixing.

UI-Improvements have a lower priority.
Planned is a complete new lobby ui, with other design concepts (not official, from spooky and me) ;)

For the current lobby maybe this is comming:

Friendlist: /viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6794&start=20#p85200
HidePasswordGames: https://github.com/FAForever/lobby/pull ... e-46976305
ChatRework: Foe at last, recolor admins/mods ...

PS.: That is the "FindGames" Thread:

I just hope the new lobby doesn't go so fast I can't keep up (just trying to bend my mind around python).

Completely off topic, do you know where the code is for the replay sync tool I keep hearing the casters pining after?
