Chicken-bot's plasma attack ball: make it an overcharge

Postby Wakke » 17 Nov 2013, 13:26

Wouldn't it be more useful if the chicken-bot's plasma ball (the huge projectile he shoots while being alive, not the death-weapon) was activated on command, like overcharge? So it doesn't get wasted on say, A MANTIS :D

No?

It's not really suppose to be a controllable thing... If your chicken dies defending, you lose stuff. If it dies attacking, they lose stuff.

Simple.

I don't mean the energy storm that appears when he dies, I mean the plasma projectile he shoots as a normal attack while being alive.

Lol, nice shot, errorblankfield.

Not that I claim to know for sure, but target priorities should keep the Experimental Ythotha from targeting Mantises all together. If not, perhaps that ought to be looked at. But it's possible that some people will reply to this thread claiming it already does have a solid targeting priority list.

Target priority list of said weapon :
TargetPriorities = {
'SPECIALHIGHPRI',
'EXPERIMENTAL',
'SUBCOMMANDER',
'TECH3 MOBILE',
'TECH2 MOBILE',
'TECH1 MOBILE',
'STRUCTURE DEFENSE',
'SPECIALLOWPRI',
'ALLUNITS',

Pip, thanks for sharing that. But I feel in practice, the plasma-ball is still wasted a lot of times, as when there are only lower health units, it almost always fires at targets that are already destroyed. Does anyone share that feeling?

Yes, but this kind of overkill can be seen with more units than just the Ythota. For the Ythota, the problem is most apparent, but you can just as well have a bunch of Percivals shooting the first Harbinger in sight, wasting a couple of shots.

I don't think that the problem of the Ythota is big enough considering the load of weaponry you get for 25K mass.

Sorry, I legitimately thought you meant the death static.

Don't like the idea of it being manual controlled, not a micro fan. Could see a toggle for it (when we give support commanders that option) but again, not a huge concern to me.
