A quite cool unit thats not in the game.

Postby General225 » 14 Aug 2013, 06:44

Hi there,

I started playing Supreme Commander when the first one came out. I loved (and still do love) the huge battles with the robot theme.

To get to my point, yesterday I went back for some nostalgia. I played through the Supreme Commander 1 campaign again, for all three factions.
But when executing Supreme Commander I decided to watch the cut scene at the beginning. Then I saw the awesome looking air transport as the narrator describes the
UEF ( <3 ).
To describe it,
Vertical conveyer belt-like storage, kind of like two star lifters mating. It looks much bulkier and would have much more hp.
Not that it could do much more then a normal air transport but, I think it would be really cool for some cinematics and machinimas or whatever.
If anyone knows how to make the unit and put it in a mod or at least in the game, that would be great.
For suggestions, I think the tanks in the picture are supposed to be Pillars (t2 heavy tank UEF).
If not, I hope that Supreme Commander 3 will have them in it. ;)

Thanks,

General225

Since the TA -Total Annihilation - age, the same creators made some high poly units to act in the intro movies. This air transport and the tanks are this kind of units.Cybran commander and a big fighter below are also examples of very good models.

Someone was trying to make the model back in the day. The topic may be present in the GPG forums.

In the Xtreme Wars mod, there is a Cybran Experimental Transport that has these platform levels that move and act as the transport hooks that units attach to. You may want to take a look at how it functions because it is close to the video.

I confess that I would made the huge top bubblemaker diferent, not a heavy structure, but the mechanics of the thing is amazing and carefully made.I dont think Scathis are a beautiful model, but wiki resume very good:
The Scathis is a bizarrely designed vehicle, essentially a huge, tracked platform carrying six telescopic Proton Artillery barrels in a rotating daisy-wheel arrangement that spins them during the firing process

Well I went looking for that GPG forum post and found this

Now it seems Devils_Hitman released an alpha version of it, but the download link is long dead. If anyone can search their files for dh_SiegeTransport_v1a.rar, please post if you have it.

Devils_Hitman released a unit pack (dh_UnitPac.scd) but these are various Cybran units.

I sent a PM but he last visited the board in 2009.

Hey mate, yeah I haven't been active on that board for about 6-7 years :) I only really found this from googling my name.

I wasn't able to find the modding files for this, but I do have the original model laying around somewhere.
