t2 figher get caught by intie

Postby TheConqueror » 03 Aug 2013, 22:59

i played ladder today and i had a corsair (t2 fighter/bomber) and an interceptor was behind it just destroying it and my fighter couldn't turn around and kill it and soon the intie destroyed it without taking a scratch i should have stoped it in its place and then charged back thou ... but aren't t2 fighters supposed to be faster and more efficient ?
thanks .

They have the same speed. There's no reason T2 fighter/bombers should be faster than interceptors, not only does the name interceptor suggest that they have some ability to, well, intercept other air units (hard to do if you're a lot slower), but the fighter bomber is a larger craft that is carrying a bunch of bombs. Why should/would it be faster too?

Like you said, you should have microed it better.

corsair is known as best fighter bomber for his anti-ground weapon, while his anti air sucks a lot. As opposite sera and uef have decent AA and not so usefull antiground weapon (keeping in mind that sera miss in 1rst pass)

T2 fighters are not for air fights, even uef and sera t2 bombers are not effiient
Bombers have good hp compared to ints, but they still cost too much to kill ints efficient.

Overall you can build 2 gunships instead of t2 bomber so it serve for special purpose of sniping stuff like power or flack or acu or tml or t3 arty... Anything that t2 gunship may not do well

Imo everything is ok with that except that i wish to ASF be better against t1 ints

Once the interceptor gets on your tail it is hard to get him off. T2 Fighter Bomber weapons have adequate damage to deal with interceptors. But they have a disadvantage of speed and turn rate. T2 FB micro requires anticipation, because, you need to keep the intie to your front long enough to make that kill. Given the positional advantage, the interceptor would be the expected victor in that sorty.

Basically, the AA capabilities are only suitable for killing a few patrols while en-route to your ground target. It is nothing more than self defence. You should not engage Inties with Corsairs if you have the choice. ;)

I always thought of fighter/bombers as T2 air that doubled as snipes if amassed. While the opposite seems to be more the case.

So swift winds are the only t2 'true' AA air then?

Air in this game is odd.
