prioritizing different units

Postby Golol » 09 Mar 2013, 01:03

Okay i am not a pro in supreme commander but i have played it for a long time with breaks.
Dont hate me if that idea is bad, just explain me why.
I thought that it would be pretty useful if you could set prioritized targets for any unit you have.
for example if you are facing an enemy force of 10 t1 tanks and 5 t1 AA but you only have 7 t1 tanks you can select them and prioritize AA tanks so the tanks will always prefer attacking an AA unit instead of something else. That way your 7 tanks will get killed, but you take out the enemies AA and can engage with your bombers or whatever.
There would many possible ways:
interceptors prioritizing bombers or other interceptors
tanks prioritizing engineers
t3 arty prioritizing t2 PGs
i hope you get what i mean
sincerely

i think there would be a lot of space in the bottom right or just the bottom middle of the screen for all the icons etc.

It strikes me as unneccesary micro and not really in the spirit of the game.

If you want to take out AA units in a specific engagement, it is probably easier to just hold shift and click on each of the AA units one after another to make your tanks focus-fire them to bits ASAP.

well but on larger groups that can take years.
and it is always more effective to let your units shoot just how they want because if you focus fire a lot of shells are wasted. you wont get all the AA down eith focus fire
