If a dev decides to do something, it gets done. Regardless of the actual worth of the project. The question then becomes whether putting it into base FAF is necessary or not.

Yes, and this is essentially what I am criticising.

If you are criticizing that I think you might be misinterpreting what I said. This doesn't mean that a change gets put into base FAF regardless of feedback. However, if the feedback is ultimately nonexistent or mainly positive, it's only rational for the change to get implemented. Why is it rational to implement something if feedback is nonexistent? Because that's the only pathway left for it to gather feedback if the proper pathways to implementation have already been followed.

Then, once some feedback can be gathered, if a change is still controversial it can be left up to Game or Balance Councillor to make the decision, depending on whose area it falls in. Since this is a cosmetic change, it is a Game Councillor matter.

Fair I guess, though nobody will ever get me to like a system where the general player base can essentially end up as play testers for such controversial changes.

I don’t really see what the big deal is with the alien bois being less shiny. A lot of the game isn’t spent really paying attention to unit visuals anyway since a lot of commands and such are done while zoomed out.

I get what you are saying, though my whole point is that it looks bad when you are like semi zoomed out, which is also one of the zoom levels in which you give a lot of commands

Please stay constructive! It's not helpful to blame developers who spend their free time.

Try to work together and not against each other, I'm sure you will accomplish your goals :)

People should stop acting like devs are the holy angels of faf which are spending their own PRECIOUS free time on making the community a better place.

"spending their free time" is such a mute point too. I myself spend 30+ hours on some maps which turned out to be hated by almost everyone. You don't hear me saying "I SpeND mY FrEE TimE MakiNg thIS mAp You BetTER ApPReCiaTE it". No it's my own fucking fault that i made a bad map. Just because people spend their free time doesn't mean they are helping the community

Yes, all devs are ofcourse a great addition to faf and the vast majority of the newly released content is good, but that doesn't exclude them from criticism.
