Call for a FAF Blogger

Postby Downlord » 04 Oct 2016, 11:23

Easy task: Gather information from the balance team, developer team etc. and publish it in regular blog posts.

As a developer it's simply a waste of time for me to write blog posts; because anyone could do that while not anyone can write code.
So I better spend my time writing code while you write the blog posts for me and keep the community up to date.

Yes? No? Who?
Working on FAF is my passion. Most of you know me for the feature-rich Downlord's FAF Client, but I also program and maintain the FAF server. Visit my Patreon page to get some insights on my work.

I think the more work someone is responsible for, the less they are willing to do it.

Therefore I would designate one person to one task.

As I imagine it's for promotion councillor, but not in a way he needs to do it himself, rather find someone who would be willing to do that.

I created the blog with the intention it would be posted on by the devs themselves. By giving out the login, and spreading post duties to "Anyone who feels they have news" we get more content than a single person could post, and also from a wider area. So far I think content has been good from the three of us, but if any of the other devs ask for the login to post something, by all means give it to them.

Just be careful of the bystander effect/diffusion of responsibility. You'll probably have better luck assigning one person to get information from all the devs and post it than just saying to everyone, "if you have something to post, post it." If you read dev blogs for most games, they are usually posted by one person who proactively solicits information from each developer or two people who rotate that responsibility.

And yet I find myself extremely satisfied with the way the blog has been going. Accurate information, regular posts, and multiple posters. Dilution of responsibility doesn't really count here because the people DevBlog is for want people to know what they're working on. It's just a stage, a platform :)
