Faster Engineers?

Postby Rain64 » 03 Sep 2016, 15:11

Anyone else thinks it's a bit annyoing that engineers take forever to reach a point? From a technological standpoint there shouldn't be a reason why these civilizations can't create faster engineers. What if there was an end game engineer unit that could fly really quickly and reach their destinations much faster?

What do you think? How would that effect the metagame?

if only there would be a possibility to get units fast to places far away from their current position.

sneaky edit: i suggest we make ghetto engi transports that can reclaim stuff at the same range as attack move engis from factories.

I know you can transport them with air transports but then you have to spend extra time and resources on building them as well and micormanage them. Also you would transport them to a far away location but if the distance is smaller you're gonna let them walk there which takes forever. Would be really cool if you could build engineers that move extremely fast. I'm just wondering how it makes sense that these light units move so much slower than other units and why can't they be implemented into air units? In terms of logic it doesn't make sense to me.

Just use the support command with a transport on a factory spamming reclaim engis.

As annoying as this may be, it is a necessary dynamic within the game. The faster the engineers the faster the rate of expansion and economic development, and the faster the recovery from raids and eco snipes. The slow speed of engineers is part of the necessary penalties inherent within the game. One which must be overcome with security and foresight.
