Built menu improvement

Postby Iszh » 12 Aug 2016, 13:30

Hi, my problem is simple, those are my templates:

templates 1.JPG

templates 2.JPG

I wanted to assign built menu hotkeys in the game. The usage of those in the game integrated hotkeys works like this:

Selekt a builder -> Press "b" -> Press hotkey

I thought thats worth it with the ammount of templates i have to assign the most important and very often used outpost bases and radar templates. Stuff you need very fast and very often in 1v1 for example.
The problem is have is that all my nice named and sorted templates are mixed arround once i assign hotkeys. They are sorted:

Alphabetical according to hotkey -> Numbers and Alphabetical template name

Is it possible to remove inside the game this sorting function according to hotkey and leave them always in a row according to template name?

Hello Iszh,

shame on me, i dont know how to assign hotkeys to templates.

Can you explain me, how i can do it, or post your Game.prefs ?
(you can delete all templates exept of 2-3 to show the false sort. I dont want spy your templates ;) )

Then i can try to fix it. I already know, where i have to search. i just need some hotkey examples to test it.

Right click on the template and then assign hotkey thats very simple. Exactly like you change the picture of the template and rename it. For usage you need to:

select a builder
select template menu
press button b
press your hotkey

Maybe it is possible to create an ui mod to make templates easier reachable? Because atm there is no way to make a real hotkey for a template. But since hotbuilt works alike should be possible.

Well, yes this was easy. Thanks :)

Maybe you can test something for me ?

Install this like a normal mod:
FixHotkeyTemplateSortV1.zip
(19.9 KiB) Downloaded 79 times

Activate it inside the modmanager start a game and check your template sorting.

Hello Iszh,

thanks for your time and testing.

You are right, the mod is set as game-Mod, but this is wrong. Its a UI-Mod. I forgot to change that.

Simple quickfix. Open the file:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Mods\FixHotkeyTemplateSort\mod_info.lua

theng go to line 12. You will see:
Code: Select all
ui_only = false

change it to:
Code: Select all
ui_only = true

Save it, and try again :)
