Submerge/Surface button

Postby Mel_Gibson » 31 May 2016, 22:03

This button current takes everything selected and does the opposite of it's current status. e.g if i want to raise some t3 subs safely to kill some annoying air and some new subs arrive on the scene, i have to zoom in and manually select the ones i want to re submerge rather than being able to select all and click or double click to have them all submerged again. Is there a purpose i've missed for the current way of doing it? If not, can it be changed?

if tried on all subs, and the behaviour is the same for all.

But i'm not sure we want to change it.
Maybe a better solution, would be as ZLO asked elsewhere to have a better UI so we can recognize underwater sub and sufaced subs better from strategic view.
or being able to press a key while selecting unit with mouse and select only surfaced or under-water subs.

Maybe we could have it like the split between idle/working engies, with two symbols in the unit list for surfaced/dived subs.

This is actually a really frustrating thing. I didn't expect it to be as cumbersome as described... good catch

For the latest info see:
https://github.com/FAForever/fa/pull/1335

As you can see there, i got some network problems with those Subs diving :)
But this is solved and now its waiting for merging into develop version.

The mod is just a proof of concept.
(The code is old and can cause some lag.)
