IP tagging to identify smurfs

Postby content404 » 15 Feb 2016, 10:10

In the FAF lobby it'd be nice to have an option to see what accounts have shared that IP address. Not making the IP visible per se, only what accounts have logged in from that IP address.

It's pretty frustrating to balance a game and find out that some of the players are way more skilled than their rating implies. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had games ruined by this. Obviously someone could mask their IP but at the very least this would filter out all but the most dedicated smurfs.

IP addresses change, static IP's do not come free.

Well, a "Smurf" tag would still be nice. Because I am tired of losing to zeros that are actually 800s or 1000s. And I bet many others are, too.
Don't complain about that which you aren't willing to change.

did you know that FAF already features far more advanced smurf detection than ip tagging?

well now you do! smurfing is hard in faf and so the vast majority of players arent smurfs! if you lose to someone it might be that they are just good at the game!

now that this has been cleared up i wish everyone a lovely day in their smurf-free games!

Wish any of that were true. Today I met at least 3 smurfs and they all played as 1000s or better.

I promise you, they weren't smurfs. Perhaps you're just bad and they played well...

I REALLY hope this doesn't turn out to be your attitude going forward. Not being able to make a T1 tank by minute 10 is like going to Soccer practice and not being able to tie your cleats for 10 minutes.

Nobody is being mean that is just plainly the truth.
