Formal Complaint System: A More Streamlined Process?

Postby briang » 14 Feb 2016, 01:08

Complainant: (Name)

Complaining About: (Name)

Reason: (Drop down menu with general choices i.e. vulgarity ending with an option "other")

Explanation: (explain the complaint)

Links: (links to screenshot/pastebin any relevant things)

Initial Box: (Acknowledge that troll complaints will result in further complaints being dismissed w/o reading)

To clarify, complaint in this context means reporting someone for abusing a bug or any violation of the rules. The reports would only be seen by the moderators.

Pros:
-Doesn't require any coding (simple google form)
-Easy to have some sort of a rotation for the mods to read these and decide whether or not the rest of the group needs to see them
-Bitchy messages to the mods replaced by fact based, concise, and simple complaints

Cons:

?

not entirely clear what the purpose of this is tbh.
if you mean reporting then... it kinda makes sense so thats what i will assume you mean - in that case the word complaint should be replaced with report for clarity and nicer-soundingness.

so what happens if you want to be a d*** and try to spam this system? are there measures against it?
not hard to imagine someone raging and sending 500 complaints
also no hard to see 500 different people each sending 1 message full of shit - not organized in anyway but if for example the server gets patched and sth breaks...

there should be some very clear standards as to what an acceptable complaint is and what is "well this guy is a cunt"
is there a way to force people to have evidence?

does this promote a nicer community or does it promote behind the back bitching?
- should be clear that this is a way of reporting and not some public shaming method
- should be clear who you are reporting to

i expect this may drive the number of reports up - and i expect a lot of them wont be serious - will mods waste too much time with this or will it help keep order with the lower rated players?

there is a name field - any way to enforce this so its actually tied to faf accounts?

hope this helps

OK I will add this to the main post but to clarify.

This would be some sort of google form (largely secured against spambots). This would only go to an email that the moderators set up that they all have access to.

The question of the name field is a good one, I think what would have to be done is to require that it be a faf name and disregard any from name fields with a non faf name... I'm trying to avoid coding, but the best solution would just be something in the form that can check the username w/ the utilities page.

ok, at least i was talking about the right thing

so what happens if i say im Zock (valid faf name) and make a report?
what about if i make a shitty complain so that guy cant report (maybe he threatened to report me and i know i was a d***)?

i would say that its required to tie faf accounts to this - needing to login or something otherwise theres 0 way of telling who is actually who

I concur... it shouldn't be too hard to make it only doable through the client. The less coding there is involved the better chance there is that something is implemented. I think this is viable though.

well faf votes used to be a thing - you got a unique token on login and could vote - same could work for reporting - but that probably requires some api and a lot more work than it sounds i guess

also if this is made then the very next thing should be the same thing for bug reports- accessible from within the client
