Paid Avatars to generate tournament money

Postby Kalvirox » 31 Dec 2015, 15:16

As explained in the title, Price yet to be determined. But I thought it would be a good way of funding tournaments. Seeing as visionik has not funded any in a while.

I don't really see many other ways of fund raising outside of just asking for money so +1 from me.

I remember ZeP had some advertisement windows on a web site to fund server. May be use that?

Whilst that is still a good idea I'd prefer not to have advertisements anywhere. I think that the community funding itself is a nice idea.

Well, addblock is free if someone doesnt like ads. I remember i turned it off for FAF back then. Ads is constant money for tournaments, avatars - temporary. Would you pay for 2d, 3d, 4th personal avatar?

Most of web sites exist thanks to ads. In this case people would get their addblock turned off more often, because they would be motivated to win money in tourney. This is just a thought. May be someone with experiense of running web site could explain all good and bad sides of this.

in my experience of faf ads:

i was really happy with them.
i barely noticed the one ad on the site/forums and if its at the bottom its almost never seen

the whats new page is a great place to put one (seen every time you faf/refaf) and afaik it created ~$5 every day, so seems like it was worth it.

if it were me i would just give the ad money to the devs though :3
hopefully that would encourage more than 3 people to work on faf

See, this is one of those ideas that's going to get a lot of people saying "Thats a good idea" and then it doesn't happen.

"Suggest it".. Suggest and be ignored.
