thx
That's not really what I said. Look carefully, and find the part about how it breaks the leaderboards.
If one faction can play with the whole tech-tree while everyone else has storyline-defined unit restrictions in place, the game ceases to be balanced.
When playing as the Seraphim, all the dialogue is broken (there's no factional dialogue for that race), so someone who hasn't seen it all before is likely to be confused about what's going on. This is a bad user experience, and will probably lead to a feeling that "coop is broken".
I don't object in particular to playing as the Seraphim. If you desperately want this, here is your to-do list:
- Dialogue text/audio for every campaign mission for the Seraphim. Bonus points for twiddling with the story while you're doing this so it makes a bit of sense (maybe you're a Seraphim who defected and came to help the other factions out or something, make appropriate banter, similarly to how the other races do internally).
- Add unit restrictions for the Seraphim equivalent to those applied to the other races to every campaign mission. Bonus points for adding some "event unlocks" for certain missions (as happens throughout the campaign, such as that point in the FA campaign where the Cybran are sent the blueprint for mobile bombs in the middle of a mission). Care must be taken here to make sure this doesn't bugger up the balance too horribly.
Alternatively:
- New campaign missions designed for the Seraphim, which will of course be playable as the Seraphim (though the existing missions won't be so)
