Even after re-reading your post I'm not sure when you mean polemic and when you mean problematic. I hope I got the spirit of your post.

Yes, my last post is polemic. Area commands isn't an automation tool. It is a UI feature present in many RTS titles since 1999, especially if they deal with lots of units and have more of a "bigger scope" feel.

Area Commands is far from removing your need to think. It is often worse then attack move and usually worse then manual reclaim. It is mostly a substitute for attack move, which is a weird mechanic.

Some stuff is well accepted because people are used to using it. If you introduced Area Commands, it would be well accepted very fast too. People would see it doesn't replace manual reclaim and it doesn't replace thinking, it just makes some of the clunky FAF UI easier. Stuff like Hotbuild and mex assist upgrade provides way more gain at high level play. People have long accepted those as normal because you could just use them as UI mods. If Area Commands was a UI mod, nobody would argue about it.

How does this mod affect game performance?

I've been trying to figure out some way to benchmark mods properly, btw., which I think is important, but haven't been able to find a solution I am really happy with, yet.

I tried the approach described in the following link, but it is not clear to me exactly what this is measuring, and the signal I get from this mostly seems to be about rendering times and the effects of graphical options:

For what it's worth, I'm in favour of more automation, if performance is not affected.

well gonna necro this one ..
but is this mod still available/useable? cause this with maybe auto reclaim ( viewtopic.php?f=41&t=18783 )
might be something i´d be intrested in coming back to FAF as these are some serious QoL functions ...

i tried downloading it from chinese forum, but registration did not work. So only if someone has it saved.

Actually it seems to be available in java-client and is not available in the python one. I am mostly using old client.

This mod doeesn't work for me. I can drag the red window but nothing happens. The gameversion is 3712. It would be nice if someboddy can tell me if there is a way to fix this.

Retard, Cough i mean a smarter person would assume that Pros know more then you. So i would assume that those features kinda what the peak and primary skill between a 1700 and a 2100. I hope we never put area commands in because it in-fact does reduce the skill needed, because ur removing things like Manual Reclaim. Also I honestly consider Area Commands a cheat mod because of Area Reclaim and etc but ok.
