This mod was published on the Chinese taexe forum, it basically adds Area recailm/assist/rebuild/attack options like there are in PA. The mod makes easy manual reclaim and auto-repair of (fire-)bases possible. I uploaded it to the faf vault.

Basic commands for selected units:
-Area reclaim/assist: Ctrl+ Drag with rignt mouse
-Area attack (military unit selected): Ctrl+ Drag with right mouse
The commands above assing targets in the area (closest one first), the one below creates a persistent target area marked by a blue rectangle that can be deleted by holding shift and clicking on the "X" n the top right of the rectangle. While it is active for an engineer it can stillbe given orders, but will retreat to the rectangle once the queue is finished:
-Area repair/rebulid: Ctrl+Alt+ Drag with right mouse

I currently don't have enough time to figure out all details about how exacly this mod works , so im gonna post the google-translated version of the original post:


"The mod, the main purposes:
A regional recovery
2, area attack (carpet bombing)

The version 1.2 of the regional command on the basis of the development. Modify the bug, and optimization.
Usage: extract to mods folder, loaded in the module manager

New regional command no longer need to manually select the command mode, to automatically issue an order according to the selected units.
The new mode of operation is as follows:

Select engineering units, hold down the ctrl key, use the mouse to drag an area to build the right box. Recycling rubbish engineering units in the region to assist (repair, help build) and allies in the region own units

Select weapon units, hold down ctrl and ALT keys, use the mouse to drag an area to build the right box. Automatically assigned fire attack enemy targets in the region, the unit is automatically assigned to assist (protection, follow) and allies in the region own units

You can select multiple units together issued an order, it will automatically release the regional command based on unit type. Command priority attack> Recycling> assistance. Hold down the ctrl + shift keys can be continuously released regional command.

Select engineering units, hold down alt Jian, use the mouse to drag an area built right box. Auto repair the regional base building, if the building was ringing off the hook, in situ reconstruction (project itself must be able to build the building, which can only come through upgrading the building can not be rebuilt.).
This command is a long-term orders, engineering units would have been monitoring the situation within the scope of construction, auto repair rebuild. Blue box shows the range, you can pull the middle of the engineering units to do other things, after the finish will automatically go back to the maintenance base. Hold down the shift will show the close button, click the Close button to close the area command.


Note:

     To prevent the amount of calculation leads to Caton. When the regional targets over 1000, the regional command is invalid. "

Just tried it out. It does what it says. It just needs some fine tuning in how it selects features to reclaim. It does not make a really efficient path that utilizes the build range of an engineer. If you have a forest for instance, at times it selects a feature that has to make the engineer move when there was a tree right in its build radius.

How I envision the algorithm to work is as follows:
1. In the rectangle that you draw out, the first feature to be reclaimed is the nearest to the engineer.

2. The next step in the algorithm is to select all the possible features that can be reclaimed that fall within the build range of the unit.

3. Once these are selected, it will then search for the nearest feature to reclaim that falls outside the build radius.

4. Go back to step 2 and repeat till all features in rectangle are selected.

This will minimize unit movement and allow for more efficient reclaiming. In cases where there are two or more equally distance reclaim outside the build radius, select the one that falls closest along the unit’s current orientation.

It would also be nice if it will auto build mexes using that Ctrl + Alt + Right Click rectangle. If the algorithm can be designed to minimize movement by placing move commands that accounts for the build radius, it would be real sweet.

I also like how you can use shift and draw multiple rectangles. So you can have an engineer do reclaim in multiple areas and then do the repair/assist after it is all done.

Overall, great job on the mod.

Domino's Mod Support had this feature for at least 2 years now. Hence I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was taken directly from DMS and repackaged as someone else's release. After all the Chinese are well known for rampant plagiarism on every level.

The 2.1 version was posted in 2009 and mentions improving something that was posted on the gpg forums.
I can't post links, but you can google "taexe 区域命令MOD-地毯轰炸" and use a translator

Well looks like they used a mod created by Gooms (Stephen Evans, uid: 4f2671c8-1e3b-11dc-8314-0800200c9a66) which they have added his name to the credits, but they took the code alot further (almost double the code). Gooms released an alpha version (0.4).

Double the code does not = a better product. Besides Gooms hasn't modded for FA in years.

resin im not sure why you seem to be upset with the chineese community contributing to faf.

they have made a good mod and uploaded it for us to use. this is a good thing, not a bad one.

if you think otherwise please tell us why instead of attacking the mods credibility and quality.

I tried to find this mod in vaults, but I wasn´t able...search line,manual search...didn´t find it

It´s removed or bug?
