MySpeed.exe /CoreMaximizer (part of QAI mod / ujcucc.zip)

Postby vxu » 31 Dec 2013, 14:57

hello,

while looking around for mods for SC-FA i stumbled upon the QAI mod pack http://supremecommander.filefront.com/file/QAI_main_mods;117518.

It links to http://normal.csucs.hu/cucc/FA/ujcucc.zip which includes a
My Speed.exe
Core Maximizer.exe

Does anyone have information about these tools? E.g. MySpeed is still reported as virus by some AV scanners?! CoreMaximizer any useful?
Still needed/useful for patch level 3603? Or even the latest FAF 3626?

for for speed.exe and core maximizer to find more information in this forum.

i only know about core maximizer: the short answer is: it can help your FPS under certain circumstances (like my pc), but it does not help your simspeed.
if you do not know the difference between simspeed and fps, search in this forum. it got explained a lot of times already. short answer: fps can get improved by lowering the graphics settings. the simspeed is not affected by it. the limiting factor is the slowest cpu in a multiplayer game.

"Core Maximizer" and "My Speed" are useless programs that do nothing in almost any case.
Only on Windows XP you could get some minor, irrelevant FPS difference where multi-core support is really bad.
Supreme commander runs the best it possibly can on windows7.

Here's a benchmark that shows what happens in Windows XP (versus windows vista):
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2007/03/26/supcom_intel_core_2_quad_gameplay_advantages/8#.UtHrS55_uRM
And remember that windows 7 have a much better multi-core support then vista.
It means that if you have a good quad-core CPU running windows 7 you'll have an average of at least 67.5% CPU usage across the cores (100%, 70%, 50%, 50%), showing that the cores are working as planned and that "Core Maximizer" type programs are irrelevant.
