Lobby Manager (Ban/Probation Tool)

Postby Duck_42 » 19 Oct 2013, 00:02

I know a lot of you keep a list of "do not play" players (either manually, or with the foes list in FAF). It can be a pain trying to remember players and why you don't want to play with them. Wouldn't it be great if you could build that list into the lobby and have it automatically remember (or even kick) those players when they join even if they change their name. It could even tell the player why you've banned them from your games.

Well, here it is...

Download
LobbyManager v1.0.5.zip
LobbyManager v1.0.5
(23.55 KiB) Downloaded 522 times

Features
  • Integrated list of banned and probationary players
  • Option to automatically kick banned players
  • Option to keep banned players in observer slots only
  • Option to display ban/probation reasons to the offender
  • Option to store and recall notes about a player and each ban/probation entry
  • Management of ban, probation, and notes lists from within the lobby
  • In game control for recording notes about a player as well as adding a player to the ban or probation list

Known Issues
  • None.

Install Instructions
Extract LobbyManager.scd from the attached zip file, and place it inside your FA gamedata folder
(For me this is C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance\gamedata\)

Usage Instructions
After you've installed the mod, you should see the lobby manager options button in your lobby above the map thumbnail (see screenshot below). If you don't see the button, make sure you've followed the install instructions and check your game.log for errors. Open up the LobbyManager options dialog and configure per your requirements. To add a player to the ban or probation (warn) list, click the drop down in the lobby and select the appropriate option. If you need to add a player in game, click the faction icon next to their name (NOTE: this will NOT kick a player from a running game; it will simply add them to the list for next time). To remove a player from the ban or probation list, open the LobbyManager options dialog and click the player list button. From that dialog you can manage both ban and probation lists.

Support
Please post any feedback on this thread so I'll be sure to see it. Also, if you encounter any problems with the LobbyManager mod, please post on this thread and let me know. If you actually want me to fix it though :D , you'll need to provide your game.log file from when the problem occurred.

Duck - I am sooo impressed.

This was IMO badly needed and it's implementation is so user friendly. I like the way you can do it in-game as well and the Warning reason. Does this warning get communicated to the other player?

I will be using it for sure. I've been using a fuggin spreadsheet prior to this.

Many thanks. Good job man.

QUACK!

@Kof, When you're host, the ban/warning reasons can be communicated to the other player when they join (it's configurable in the Lobby Manager options). If you join a game that they're in or that they're hosting, you'll see the ban/warning reasons in your chat window, but it will not be shown to them.

Also, in case anyone is wondering, the Send List option is not implemented. I would like to incorporate list sharing capabilities, but that will take a fair bit of additional coding.

Can we have the opposite added as well? That is a friend list. No need for anything too fancy just a notification when someone you like joins. Perhaps a scale (1-10) as well. IDK

I can't remember all the people I like >_<.

yes, that would be nice, why not think positive?
the only problem i have with the ban/probation tool is that it shows that people don't always like each other here : (
