Its just closer to what the original icon size is, allowing a person to switch to 200% if they still want that 'extra size' : )

Just out of curiosity, what kind of resolution do you use in game?

Im 1280&1024. Regrettably my monitor can't support higher resolutions : )

Yeah, that's way below the recommended resolution for the 200% version. Let's just hope the new size would fit.
Here's a small comparison preview that shows the size difference:

After a lot of work, version 3.0 is finally here.
Offering selecteble icon sizes (Large, Medium or Small) with previews, proper highlight signs for the strategic launcher and the antinuke icons, battery sign for the energy storage icon, smaller T1 mass storage, better pause icon that doesn't conceal the signs of the icons that are under it, redesigned installer with dynamic zoom, new test button for quick In-game experiments, new options window with manual installation option and more..

Check it out and post some impressions, it took a lot of time and effort for getting this far (a few monthes).

Could you be more specific?
On what point of time the installer crashes? on the start or when you click a button?
What is written in the error message explicitly?
The older 2.2 version workis fine?
What is your operating system? Do you happen to have the steam installation of forged alliance or a stand-alone cd installation?
Have you changed the install directory location of the game in the past?

Hi,
thx for the awesome job, it looks really really cool.

But I can't get it to work either : )

Previous installation worked fine, but present one doesn't, for some reason.

Installation app works fine, installation seems to be okay too; I can change icon size at the whim, and the application confirms the mod being installed on my steam FAF. I can't however see it in game, when trying to activate mods.

Older 2.2 version worked fine. I'm on windows 8, with a steam FA.

I haven't changed the directory.

Hope that helps!

To solve the problem I need to know a few things first.
You said that you can't see the mod in game when trying to activate it but the mod should be automatically activated after you run the installer without additional in-game steps.
What is the full path of your forged alliance copy?
Have you tried running the installer as administrator?
Could you use windows search on steam folder to search for the 'Advanced strategic icons.scd' file and post it's path here after you install the mod? (if it isn't there then do a complete drive search)

I tried it again and it worked; I guess I should have lunched a game and see if icons are changed there : )

I'm hesitating between small and medium icons; I think I'll stay with small. The mod is super nice, some small things that I think could be better (maybe specific to small sized icons):

- the wall sections are pretty big still, and tend to drown out a PD emplacement in the middle. Might prove annoying for targeting a PD in that case.
- The PD orange-coding seems to be scaling with the icons. At smaller-sizes its barely visible (sides for land pd, top of the icon for aa; etc.). I haven't looked at other such colour codings, but they probably suffer from the same issue.

Awesome job either way!

I checked the wall section's icon and it's in the right size (the same size of the original). Are you sure that there's no difference between the small and the medium versions or you simply want me to minimize it beyond the size of the original unmodded icon?

The problem with the small version is that it's built under a very strict guidelines, designed to meet macro enthusiasts' expectations who want to play from the farrest point of view with the smallest icon size possible. Because of this, sacrifices had to be made. In addition, Supreme Commander doesn't handle colors well at this size, forcing me to make compromises after lots of tiny corrections. Have another look at it, if it's really an issue i might throw additional work on it but perhaps the medium version is more suitable for you as a whole.

It is just one file (Advanced strategic icons.scd) ?
Why make installer to just copy one file ?

Excellent mod any case :)
