GAZ 6.0 and Hotbuild

GAZ and hotbuild are now officially integrated into FAF
hotbuild will still work, but you might want to test the default, integrated one first




This thread is about two extremely cool mods, GAZ_UI and Zulans Hotbuild

here, very short what these mods are about:

GAZ_UI
more options for the user interface (you can enable/disable each of them)
displayed health of shields, regeneration of shields and units
bigger strategic symbols
SCU manager to upgrade multiple SCUs at once (you don't have to click the upgrade for each of them then)
reclaim window

Zulans Hotbuild
basically every unit gets a hotkey, you don't have to click the icons in the building menu
very often used units (factory, radar, mex, pgn, templates) are easy to click with your left hand while holding shift
you can make templates of factory orders, so they build the units in the order you like

Q: why GAZ 6.0 and not 6.1 ? 6.1 is the latest version!
A: GAZ 6.1 and hotbuild won't work at the same time, 6.0 has no problems with it

notice:
GAZ_UI is available in version 7 (6.1 with nomads stuff), and hotbuild in version 10 (nomads again), these two work together and are equal to gaz 6.1 and hotbuildv9, you can get these from the FAF mod vault

how to install automatically
1) go to the FAF mod vault, search for them in the filter (due to how the mod vault currently works, it's possible that you will not find them. in this case, install them manually)
- step 2) & 3) as in the manual installation

how to install manually
1) follow C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Mods (you can copy paste this one into your file mananger), if the folder Mods does not exist, create it
unzip GAZ_UI and drop it in the folder, hotbuild.zip must NOT be unzipped to work.
2) go to FAF's mod vault, (Vaults tab -> Mods), press the "Manage UI Mods" button in the top right, make sure your mods are ticked (shown by green colour, unticked is grey)
3) host a game, enable the mods in the ingame lobby


for hotbuild:
in the game, press F1 and RESET all keys. save it, leave the game.
if hotbuild hasn't asked you to use the default keys, host another game (hotbuild enabled) and check for the keys again.
this way, you will get the default settings for Zulans Hotbuild
if you have trouble getting to this, you might want to check Vault54's modified version: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5817

for GAZ
in the options window, there are now many more options

there you can read what it changes. i recommend this mod to anybody. the templates are much easier to handle - and you can rotate them as well.

Hello,

i don t understand why i keep having troubles trying to use gazui or hotstats. For example for gazui when mod in enabled i don t have gazui available options then the game will crash when trying to launch.

it has problems finding the mod files, have you unzipped the mod?
if yes, try to put it into the second directory aswell (or just into the other one), i had some problems with having hotbuild just in one, it didn't work for whatsoever reason

btw, only gaz_ui must be unzipped, hotbuild must not
but you need gaz for getting hotbuild to work

Ok actually there were 2 gazui folders, one in other one, so i had to delete one. I usually didn t pay attention to folders numbers since i remember that worked anyway with some mods.

Installing and activing the hotbuild mod does not work. Even pressing F1 does not show me the hotkeys.

- The GAZ_UI mod version 6 is installed and works OK.
- I can activate the hotbuild mod in the mod manager.
- activating the mod, hosting a game, exiting and rehosting does not help.

Any advice?

hard to say what the cause is, without some logs

as a first try, i would check if you unzipped the mod (should work in .zip state), and if you did, whether there is another 'hotbuild' folder inside the first one (this could corrupt the data paths in the mod files)

else, i would try to copy the mod to the second mod datapath aswell (both listed in the first post), and check if it works then

Tx for the suggestions Myxir, but none of them work. The strange thing is that even hitting the F1 key does not pop up the keyboard shortcuts, so there must be something going on.

can you post the game.log file, i think you posted the logfile for the lobby

maybe something wrong with your GAZ_UI, if the F1 hotkey doesn't work to change key settings
