Front end mods from mod folders.

Postby Domino » 28 Dec 2019, 22:47

HEYA!!

Long time. :)

anyway did a little work this week on a script i was working on before i left.

basically iv'e enabled front end modding from a mods folder.
this mean i can basically do anything to the front end from a mods folder when the mod is enabled or disabled. :)

here is a little video of me changing the front end menu and video and some options from a mod!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vykx3ZrXj6U&feature=youtu.be

the mod isnt finished yet, ill complete it and post it here a little later.

i am far from a messiah :P

regarding the script,
yeah it's coming along nicely now, had some bugs to work out of it but it is working very good right now as i have been able to put some good hours into it this last few days.
there are just so many things i need/want to add to it. :) one thing to note right now though is that once a front end file is hooked once its enabled you have to "refresh" the call to said hooked file.. as the file that is hooked could be in use at the time of hooking so its needs to be called again to allow the hooks to be used. its not a problem if a mod is enabled when fa starts the hooks are just used from the start, kinda like an scd but in an enabled mods folder, this presents a problem that the modder will need to solve if the mod is enabled from the game lobby. 100% as of right now we can make new front ends n such from mod folder. We can hook any game lua file from a mods folder, files are hooked/cleaned on the fly so disabling a mod removes the hooks that the said disabled mod entered, i also added support so we can now hook mod files, so say mod 1 does something in an lua file, another mod loaded after mod 1 can hook the mod 1 file to change/hook whatever they want in preceding mods original lua (a lua file not in the game ie not a hooked file). dunno if this was already possible or has already been done. i added that support anyway, i think it would make more mods compatible as mod 2 can just hook mod 1's lua, whatever.... added some basic support for an scd to add hooks to any game file, not the schook folder stuff... means base lua in scds that override then cannot be hooked are now able to be hooked like normal. hope that all made sense :)
