So, I am sure it is out here somewhere.

I would like to get into Modding. New Units, Modeling, etc. Where do I start?

depends on what exactly it is you want to do.

It's like saying to your grandmum you wish to start cooking. Cakes or lunch or exotic dishes or...?

Would like to get into building new units. At least learning more about that. Really enjoy playing Total Mayhem and it piqued my curiosity.

also, what helped me a lot was just looking at the coding of those units.
For example, take the Goliath experimental mech from Blackops:Unleashed mod. When you lose it, it has a very complex death sequence. By reading its script you can learn exactly how it's done.
By looking at the ACU or SACU files, you can see how easily enhancements are done.
By comparing Scathis fire to t3 arty fire, you can easily spot the difference in the fire cycle - from that you learn what exactly does what, in the code (This is just one example how you can quickly learn exactly which value does what).

My point is - it's all out there, in theory - explained, but also in the units themselves. You see a piece of code you like making a unit behave how you want it - go learn how it's done by looking at its code. It's that simple ;)

I'm a freakin' lawyer who fails at math but I am currently creating a 5 stages evolving upgradeable hero unit with a shitTon of options ;) All can be learned.

the nomads development team has resources on how to make models for units from start to finish, how to make shader changes, all the source files available for download, as well as a bunch of developers hanging out on the nomads discord. if you want to get help from people who know what theyre doing, feel free to ask all modding related questions there :> https://discord.gg/eV3wmAX

there you will be able to learn stuff like how to arrange bones on a unit to make them work: Image
how to get shaders to do magic things like change effects to their teamcolour: Image

as well as a whole lot of other things like how to organise files, what to do in what order, and much more :>
