Reclaim micro

Postby ladderff » 29 Mar 2017, 02:30

I watched Heaven's video about reclaim and the different UI options for reclaiming. Everyone says that manual reclaim is best, and on a map like Bermuda Locket it's likely to be the difference between winning and losing, but I have a lot of trouble iwth my manual reclaim. I need very specific advice because I have mapped 'a' to reclaim and then I press 'a', hold down shift, and start queuing up reclaimables, but when i look back I find that many of the orders I gave have just disappeared and stuff i was pretty sure I clicked right on went unclaimed—even the bigger rocks. Attack move also seems retardedly inefficient, like the engy would have had to pass right by reclaimables that were in its build range in order to get to destination, but doesn't do so.

Even just scooping up the rocks on the corners of Twin Rivers makes a big difference and seems to be something I don't do very well. Any tips or resources on this?

You need to zoom in more. The reclaim order doesnt snap to objects unless your are at a certain zoom

On the topic of reclaim and attack move in general, is is possible to add some sort of bandbox area selection for movement? The idea being that you'd simply bandbox an area you'd like to reclaim, the UI then assigns a star-shaped patrol/attackmove over the extent of the box rectangle and you can basically forget about it?

I know it's less efficient but often the problem (myself as an old fart included) is available APM. So it would be easier to get things going as opposed to manually queuing waypoints if you don't do the individual wreck reclaim thing.

Is the mouse and selection behaviour baked into the engine and not modifiable?

Someone (crotalus?) made a area reclaim thing. I don't know if it was bandbox, maybe you just click on an area and it automagically creates manual reclaim orders for everything nearby. People were talking about integrating it and i have no idea what its status is. Long time ago.

If we talk about bermuda - i would suggest to manually reclaim big rocks 1rst. but alot of small rocks are scattered around unpassible terrain, so useing attack-move from factory would be wise to collect them
https://youtu.be/0gN2oA3YsJ0?t=3m12s i only have problem that you described when i miss thing that i clicked

if you use reclaim hotkey and then left click you can click on ground and order will stay there buy engy will not reclaim anything, that happens when you just miss and click not on the stone

you can use just right click instead, then you will get all orders correct, except then if you miss a stone you will make a move order instead of reclaim order, but you can cancel that with ctrl+shift+right click
